At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.

    Happy Friday!! Super fun windy day today! My challenge today was how to keep what I picked in my collecting bag, with it not escaping in the wind. LOL. With a couple of reboots, I figured it out. ;)

    How does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?

    When I volunteer it hits me right in the heart and it makes me feel like a real part of the community. Doing a service or activity that is really needed and it makes me want to do more. My community is ALL the people in it, and they are ALL important.

    I joined the challenge to be a part of the Comerica team and to learn more about what I can do to help this earth. I choose the actions I did because I thought they would be easy to manage, these are things I see each day and haven't done anything about them. I am hoping to make good habits.

    The challenge is going really well, I am surprised by the litter/debris that is near the building where I work. I have gone out each day and picked up big and small pieces to dispose of and I still see more to do. It's always bothered me to see it, but I managed to walk away from it. (not good!) I think this challenge has really opened my eyes to being more present and willing to do my part to help keep this area and my community clean.

    I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in my community. Taking care of the community I live in is important to me.

      Keep up the good work Kathy. I went to take out the trash yesterday and there was a plastic bag blowing in my next door neighbors brush as I passed by; instead of leaving it there, I grabbed it and placed it with my garbage. We all have to take pride in our communities.
