Andrea's actions
Action Track: Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 3 hours in my community.
Action Track: Community
Share My "Why"
I will record a video to share why I am taking action this Earth Month, a sustainable swap I've made, and/or a local conservation effort in my area.
Climate + Air
Weekly Meal Planning
One third of all food produced worldwide is wasted, and so is the energy it takes to produce and transport that food. I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need and eating what I planned each day.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
It's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Climate + Air
Sustainability Lunch and Learn
Learning in a social setting can inspire connection and change. I will work with a friend or colleague to plan and host a lunch and learn at work, school, in my neighborhood or other location to learn more about an environmental topic important to me. After the lunch and learn, I will share more about it on the feed.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Leave No Trace
I will respect and protect biotic communities by practicing the seven principles of Leave No Trace whenever I am outside.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Andrea Coyle 4/22/2024 9:47 AMI love to volunteer to re-ground myself. It can get so easy to get caught up in all of our little day to day adult tasks, but having a moment WITH people FOR people makes everything worth it. I encourage myself to volunteer at least once a month to fill my cup! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: CommunityHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Andrea Coyle 4/05/2024 11:05 AMIn the alley behind my store, there are some other business' parking spots. I took a walk on my lunch and saw that there not only was a bunch of litter, but a bunch of litter of Starbucks cups!! It made me sad to see these items not disposed properly (even found a Holiday cup) when I know they have recycled materials! I focused on cleaning up the litter that I know came from my store, and will continue to pick up trash along the alley daily or weekly. -
