Join a Cleanup Effort

I will organize or participate in a trash pickup at a local river, beach, or natural body of water.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Biodiversity + Wildlife

Use Reusable Bags

Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.

Participated in a Buffalo-Niagara Water Keepers clean-up at Red Jacket Riverfront Park It was great have Erie County ask us to sort out the branded items so they can work toward a garbage tax. Always feels great to be outdoors and helping to make a difference.

VERY difficult, to eliminate plastic produce bags. Over the past 2 years I've started to reuse them multiple times and that has reduced my use. When I don't store them airtight to go limp too fast. I'd like to understand the metrics comparing using thin gallon baggies (no ziplock top) to heavier tupperware-type containers, and what are my other options?? This is a really tough one for me to solution
